First world depression is just as serious as any other world depression. In fact, I'd argue it's worse because people in the first world have more to lose. Obviously.

The circumstances leading up to it can be different, but once you have it, you're in the same damn boat as some starving person in Africa or some high class person who has it all. It eats away at every person just the same no matter who they are.
