Gandalf summons his shield, Dumbles can't do shit, Gandalf whisks Dumbles' wand away and proceeds to cut the bitch up via Glamdring without wasting any more magic energy.

  • While Gandalf is weaker then Sauron by being in a mortal form, they're the same type of being. I mean, Gandalf's shield shrugged off a Balrog's whip. Dumbles would need to literally drop the whole of Hogwarts on Gandalf to get past it.

  • I wouldn't say the whole of Hogwarts. That'd be one stompy shield. It say... a significant amount of magic. The kind that'd drain you... such as when Dumbledore summoned all that fire in Half-Blood Prince.

  • Voldemort's potion weakened Dumbledore. The fire really had nothing to do with his weakened state. Apart from the Patronus wisps that Harry initially produced, using magic in the HP universe doesn't drain you.

  • I did exaggerate a fair bit. >.> But you bring up a good point. The Balrog could've wailed on the shield a few more times be fore it wavered. I doubt that fire spell would have half the intensity of that flame. And with it draining Dumbledore so much... Yep. Gandalf still stomps.
