What CPU should I go with? i5 4670K or i7 4770K? I plan on multitasking, so I thought I might go with the i7. I just don't know if I'll need the extra threads for watching YouTube videos/browsing B.net/listening to iTunes music whilst playing my games on maximum settings. Any help is appreciated.

  • You could easily do all of that on a Pentium... Both an i5 and i7 are MAJOR overkill if that's all you're gonna be using your PC for. If gaming, then get the i5. If not, then just a Pentium or an i3 or the AMD equivalent. The i7 is only good for video editing, encoding videos, etc. You can still video edit just fine on i5 or any other CPU though. The higher the CPU though, the less time you'll spend encoding your videos.

  • I don't think an i5 is major overkill. If I'm using a triple monitor setup, I want my games to be on the middle screen, with stuff on the other two monitors. Plus, games in the future will be utilizing more threads, so...

EDIT: Didn't notice that you mentioned games. Just get an i5. You'll be fine.
