I highly doubt trophies in the Beta would carry over to the retail game. They're probably just motivating the player to try new things.

well Blizzard did it with Diablo, no reason Bungie couldn't do it as well, maybe a small reward to the people that invested early, of course it wouldn't cound towards platinums and acheivement totals for the game I would assume.
