It is unbelievably sad that it's so trendy to be a psychopath now.
It will be the new atheist in terms of internet coolguys in a year or so. I hope it follows the same trend: after initially enjoying 15 minutes of fame where everybody says they are a psychopath to seem badass, the Internets will then show how stupid it is to act like that and will collectively take these wannabe badasses down several hundred notches. Maybe then people will stop bragging about "having" a serious mental illness.
Edited to be readable. Jesus... I hate posting long shit from a phone.

Hey hey hey. I'm not absolving legit psychopaths of all guilt. Posting super edgy things like "I stood over my sleeping father with a knife contemplating whether or not I should/could kill him" which will inevitably be interpreted as cool, stoic, and badass by the wannabe edgy preteen crowd doesn't help. And, while it's certainly not a psychopath's job to be a role model, one can't expect to act like that without inspiring nine inch nails loving father "hating" preteen rebels with no cause.

I would agree. I'm absolutely not saying the burden lays with those with the illness to act properly, but I am saying that one cannot expect to act like that and not think others won't find that cool, especially on a forum with a bunch of edgy teens. To make a shitty analogy, it'd be like an anorexic women talking about how she's losing weight in front of a bunch of chubby high schoolers. Sure, they're stupid to follow along, but once the seeds are planted in the minds of morons DAMMIT, I WANNA LOOK/BE LIKE THAT! Again, not trying to say it is the fault of those who are ill, but I think it's reasonable to say that those who are don't always help in terms of dissuading people from thinking it's cool.
-
It's also reasonable to say that those who are "ill" don't care what people think of it. Of course, I understand that you're speaking descriptively. But there's really nothing to be done.
-
Unfortunately there is not. This pathetic obsession will have to run its course until enough people start pointing out how stupid it is to idolize a mental illness and how having it doesn't make you a better/cooler person (or fighter, for that matter, which clearly the joker in the op doesn't seem to realize...). Not to say it necessarily makes you worse. I'm not trying to insult you or anything (I know how much you'd find joy in peeling the skin off my face).
