I disagree with piloting a ship. This is a first person shooter. You start adding this like flying ships and it will take away from the rest of the game. Go buy a seperate game if you want to fly ships.

speaking of which anyone know if there will be places in between planets, like derelict space ships or asteroids, that we can explore?

We know of the reef, a area that seam to be a ship graveyard, possibly the remnants of a space battle, fought durring the downfall of man.
