Since this is so popular, I'll say that we should start ignoring the complainers. This is my last word about everything.

22 RepliesHi guys, just so we are clear, a lot of my audience has been asking me about my opinion on the whole topic of PSN getting Destiny content first. This video was meant to state my opinion to those people asking. It was not intended to directly address people who have been saying the "Bungie betrayed Xbox" comments, although I realize I do that in the video, it was a consequence of the topic. I definitely could've been nicer too, but the controversy got really out of hand recently, was angering me, and I'd like to think I'm able to access a human emotion besides sarcasm for once.

Datto says that ps never gets any exclusives but in the video he also names a few ps exclusives
-
He sounds kinda whiney
-
I agree with the general idea that PlayStation is allowed to get this timed exclusive content. That's fine. What's not fine is the way he addressed it. It was extremely immature and I don't plan on watching any of his videos (that was my first). The biggest issue the Xbox Bungie community has is less that PlayStation is getting exclusive content and more so how we're being treated. Everything has been PS centric. You can have a partnership with someone without completely almost ignoring the other half of your community. They're getting better about it now, but it's still pretty annoying. We don't even know when Xbox gets the Beta, and it launches in less than a month. There's next to no communication on our side. Bungie has always said they love their fans, but right now it seem like they're being told not to talk to Xbox and focus everything on PlayStation.

8 RepliesI just hope in destiny 2 that content is even so I don't have to buy a whole new system.
-
2 RepliesI honestly don't care about the exclusive dlc

15 RepliesI am a Xbox gamer and the first day Destiny was available to pre-order I went to Gamestop and put my money down. Not knowing anything about exclusives besides a pretty sweet 2 sided poster and that was enough for me. PS3 and PS4 community members that have joined B.net Welcome and I hope you make awesome gaming memories with your friends like I did with the Halo games.
-
3 RepliesI understand and can agree with what Datto is saying but do understand that he is on the other side of the argument... Its easy to be ok with all this and criticize the Xbox guys when your the one who is getting the special treatment.

32 RepliesBeing an XBL vet of over 11 years and a Halo fan since CE, its tough to see exclusive content go to the other side but it just is what it is. I tend to think Datto has it right. Bungie still has a business to run and must make business decisions in the best interests of the Company. As an Xbox loyalist AND a Bungie loyalist, it would have just been nice to see some of the love come back to us. I think the majority Xbox community is just saddened by the fact that we arent the recipient of the content and its the minority of the Xbox community that is here complaining about it, thus making the rest of us look bad. At the end of the day, come 9.9.2014, we will all be live and playing a great game.

I loved this video.

Edited by Tactica: 6/23/2014 6:47:26 PMDatto's spot on with the business model explanation. Myself and others have said as much in other threads countless times. Unfortunately, the drama towards the end in this video presents as antagonizing and inflammatory. I dare say it was unnecessary to communicate the otherwise very good points. His message yields a mixed result in the end, and weakens the overall impact it could have had. However, I sympathize with the clear frustration he seems to experience on this topic. I'm right there with you Sir. After some thought on this, and hearing Datto echo my thoughts, this too is my last post / response on this topic. For my part, I refuse to perpetuate the topic. To that end and as Datto mentions, perhaps its time we all start ignoring the folks complaining / whining about the differences in the consoles, exclusivity, etc. There's more than one thread which attempts to explain the topic sincerely for those interested in learning. At some point, you have to except that you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink. Why do we tend to continually stop to oil the squeaky wheel? Maybe it's the idea that we want to fix or help all see things in a different light. However, sometimes it's just counterproductive and/or a waste of energy. In this case, perhaps its better to just move along, put down the oil and quit pulling that old wagon. I have both X1 and PS4. I'm done with these and related threads. See you star side folks,

Like it or not, business is business. Although Datto may come across as somewhat arrogant, his point is valid. It is an excellent business strategy. The purpose of most businesses is to make money, and in this case exclusive content will certainly contribute to this. And for those of you who still need a scapegoat, blame Microsoft. If Microsoft had played there cards right, than perhaps they would currently be on better terms with Bungie.

Public media outlets, be they news agencies or blogs or even public forums like this one, are designed to saturate markets with information and opinions. The upside of this is that one's message can now get out to a much wider audience than ever. The downside to this is that the information is almost always one-sided, its perspective being limited to that of the sender. For television media outlets, we can see this downside expressed in the content they choose to show. Years after 9/11, reporting on the Middle-East has still been limited by most Western news agencies to acts of terrorism and political unrest. Conversely, evening television programming capitalized on the Islamic extremist as the "Bad Guy du-Jour" in order to drive ratings. This has had the unfortunate effect instilling within the collective unconscious of most Western nations general populace the opinion that any man that wears a khaffiyeh or woman that wears a hijab should be treated (at best) with caution or suspicion. Conversely, those same media outlets nowadays have created stereotypes within our own society by focusing on the religious, political or antisocial motivations of domestic terrorists, polygamists or idiot kids that decide to shoot up schools, leading our society to believe (once again, unconsciously) that anyone who owns a gun, dresses in black or has strong religious beliefs must be a whacko just waiting for the right moment let their particular brand of crazy loose on innocent civilians. These stereotypes exist because the media outlets can generate the most reporting these events or writing them into the plots of your favorite flavor of "CSI" or "Law and Order". For forums, such as this one, the effects are somewhat different because opinions can be expressed by all parties, rather than the majority taking in the "information" as an audience. The problem here is that only the opinions of those that care to voice them are ever heard. This has an equally unfortunate effect of creating a general belief that those whose opinions are most closely aligned within these forums somehow represent an actual majority of whatever category they claim to represent, rather than simply being an active yet vocal minority, as is most often the case. The bottom line here is that those who complain on these forums are not necessarily (or even realistically) in the majority. The majority simply doesn't choose to waste their time feeding into whatever little issue has this vocal minority's panties in a wad, like a bunch of hairless monkeys flinging turds in all directions just to see what sticks.

Datto is kinda mad here . Idk if I like that.... I'm a fan of destiny updates

3 RepliesEdited by Agent Space Wolf: 6/23/2014 2:52:16 PMBasically Bungie is grandma martha at thanksgiving And were the favorite sons/daughters that always get most of the turkey and wine But now our hot cousins husband/wife has showed up so we gave them most of the wine. But we still get lots of wine later. End of bad analogy

6 RepliesNow i've heard a lot of complaining about complaining, and some guy put his opinion on some pedestal. Gaming seen only as a business is what is getting us now 1/2 assed shited out crap. Gaming for me has always been... I guess what would be the equivalent of someone who reads and loves books. Just because greedy bastards are twisting into nearly purely a business doesn't mean i would except it. I don't think the majority wants games they can only be content with and overpriced dlcs and microtransactions. Gaming should be an expression of someone or groups fantasy, not including filling they're pockets, but rewarded so for the hard work they put into it instead of hype and underhanded bs to sell. Not that hype hasn't been selling games... but that is going to have people stop buying first day.. maybe in a few more years. I guess if anyone doesn't agree then you must game to throw money away..??
