I forget which interview it's in, but I love when Sean Murray brings up that a player can log hundreds of hours without seeing more than the tiniest fraction of a percent of the game's potential universe. Granted, you could technically say the same thing about Minecraft, but from what it sounds like their procedural engine will include a much greater diversity of assets to play with.

Edited by LecomingBegend: 6/20/2014 8:51:48 PMThe interview was with Tina Amini of Kotaku. Here is the exact section of the article about the interview.
"When I was saying that we don't know what's out there...every time I play through this I'm seeing something that's new and often I'm seeing something I've never seen before. And that's quite cool," Murray said. Some people might interpret this to mean that everyone's game will be different. Not quite. While your experience will be different, everything in the game is consistent with everyone else's game. It's simply a matter of what side of it you end up on.
What is your opinion on this trailer? This is my second favorite trailer. The reveal trailer is my favorite. Every NMS trailer has given me that wow factor though.

Very concise, in a good way. Showcases the game really well without the need for everything being explained. It's a great as an advertisement -- probably would do well as an ad on youtube. You know, I don't think I'd seen the initial reveal until just now. That's probably the best trailer for the game out there. Such a wide variety of environments. I want to see them all, but I know I never will.

Even the barren worlds look amazing.
-
Agreed. I like that they don't plan to populate the universe with only habitable planets, adding in barren worlds for resources just makes the green worlds so much more unique. I can't wait till I land on a planet that I assume is barren, just to find life under the surface.
-
I doubt all barren worlds will have resources. I read in an article that 90% of the worlds you explore will be barren. Some worlds you assume to be barren will definitely have life.
-
That's true. I read the same info somewhere, but I didn't think of the possibility of completely barren worlds. I just assumed there'd always be some mineral, fuel source, etc. to find, but I guess it doesn't have to be that way.

Don't set your expectations too high. It's possible, yet I highly doubt it.
-
That's probably my biggest concern. I really don't want to overhype myself, but they're a small development team, so I'm willing to give them a lot of breathing room.

I always overhype this game. (Under pressure/with a limited amount of time) a small team can work wonders.
