You could also bind it to the touchpad. Not sure how that would work on Xbox and PS3 though. Maybe the D-Pad instead of all 4 emotes. Don't really see the need for emote shortcuts while not in the Tower. But I doubt Bungie will utilize the touchpad since they want a similar experience on all platforms.

The reason I didn't suggest that is for that reason of it not working for everything else. Plus it is a slick solution, that doesn't mess with their idea for emotes being easily accessible. It is probably the simplest and easiest solution that keeps with their design mechanics, as it m mimics the heavy weapon selection. It could be in the ghost menu, that would be cool. Have it so that when you pop up the ghost menu you have a contextual key shift. Giving access to quick item usage on the Dpad. Like how in the ghost menu square summons ghost and triangle takes you to orbit. Since every system has to have ghost access one way or another, that would be a viable solution, in my mind. Good discussion is good, thanks for adding your input.

  • I like the Ghost idea. Holding reload wouldn't work though, since that's already used to interact. Anyway, they have to first add some sort of shortcut to use ammo boxes or other items (such as extra Glimmer drops). And I doubt it will happen since they probably have thought this out in someway. Right now it adds a small strategic aspect as to when you should use one. If it happens, I really hope we get some fully customizable controller layouts. Not that I need it, I love the ldefault layout, but why does almost no developer let us do this?

  • It is used to interact only when there is a contextually relevant indicator, otherwise it isn't being used. I am liking the ghost idea more and more though, because it could really be effectively used as a quick access screen. Even if it is just for consumables, even then it could be just very specific things like the ammo. Also the ghost is s necessary function of the game, so having it with in that menu makes it viable for all, versus using the touchpad in a way that can't be useful elsewhere.
