Well, to answer your question, my father snores really loudly, which can get annoying in small hotel rooms

I went to a wedding back in 2012 with her and we had to share a room for two nights. I wasn't having any of it, I would sleep on the couch and the second I heard snoring I would go out to the lobby and sleep out there. I'm probably gonna have to do it again in August for another wedding we're going too.

I'm surprised the people who worked at the hotel let you sleep in the lobby

It was a pretty big lobby, there was only one person working in the lobby that late at night. It's not like I was making a scene for people coming in by sleeping on one of the couches.
