So do we need a special Perk (Black Ops 2 style) to pick up ammo drops or will they be available to all ... and does it have to match your weapon selection?

No, you will have your own loot stream. You will not need to use skills points to pick up ammo drops.

I'm glad because seriously, everybody should be able to get loot without having a crap perk. Like sprinting or picking up grenades in a game. Just a natural thing that should be available to everyone without perks.

Also, you won't pick up grenades. They have a timer reset.

Yeah, just the general idea of my original statement is that they keep the basic functions out of the perks area and if they want to do perks, keep it constrained to other things besides the basic game elements everyone should have. Not to say that you could pick up grenades.
