But they aren't proper cubans (unless you got them illegally). I've tasted the colombian of each and they don't taste nearly as good as the cuban leaf.

Dominican is the closest you can get legally. They use the same seed and practices and come pretty close. It's a dame fine smoke. But the soil makes the difference. Mine happen to be "proper".

I knew it was somewhere! Yeah there is something about the actual cuban, it's hard to explain. Do you prefer the Cohiba or the Montecristo?

Cohiba I've been spoiled on the 2004 limited editions I got from a friend. Crazy expensive to the point I would never purchase them myself. But I'll sure enjoy them while they're here! Though Monty's aren't bad either. I just prefer a more full-bodied blend.
