Mars has cosmic ray issues as well, it lacks a magnetosphere to shield it.
Space stations are overall a better idea for now, they can have Earth-like gravity and can be moved around.

Oh yes we do, it's just good old physics and inertia, not some sort of fancy gravity machine.
