Nope. Nope. So much nope. To small for me.
-
You will want to go small for concealed carry.
-
You want a gun you're comfortable with so you can use it effectively while still being reasonably small. I am not comfortable with a gun that small and I don't want to be in a life or death situation where I am not comfortable with the thing that is keeping me alive. I want to be confident in my grip on my gun and not have to fiddle with the way my hands are wrapped around it because it's too small. If I were facing a threat, I would not have time to do that.
-
Get a larger glock then?
-
Oh. I didn't think about the grip.
-
That's why you practice. I don't have small hands and I've never had a problem with gripping my G27. - Der
-
Nah, always get something your comfortable with at the first time
-
Full size pistols do not lend themselves to concealed carry, which is what the OP asked about. If OP can't handle a pistol suited to CC, maybe they shouldn't. - Der

Edited by Infiltrat0rN7: 5/26/2014 5:47:51 PMThere's better concealable pistols that don't have a -blam!- huge base plate
-
Both you and OP have referred to "Better" pistols. Care to elaborate? More accurate? More reliable? I put the extension on mine because I do have large hands, though I shoot just as well without it. - Der
-
I'm just going for something that's reliable and comfy. Also something you can easily conceal with a T-shirt on with the right holster.
-
My G27 fits that bill to a T. I use a custom made leather ITWB holster in t-shirt weather and have had no problems. Get a good belt and holster and you should be good to go. - Der
-
Why practice with something you don't like when you can get something better that you're more effective with.
-
Better? More effective? Sounds like you weren't honestly asking for opinions. So what did you have in mind that you should have included in your first post? Do you conceal carry currently? - Der
-
What I mean when I said that is something that you would be comfortable with and can use easily without fidgeting. I want opinions, but I was also giving my own opinion of those that are offered ti me. I never really had anything in mind when I made the OP, but I would consider a compact Jericho 941. The only problem is that it doesn't have a firing pin safety so it can discharge if dropped. And no, I don't carry currently. This thread is for future reference and more or less a buying guide. I asked the flood so I could discover new guns that I might consider more than what I already have.
-
My advice is to find the smallest firearm of any of the major calibers that you are comfortable with. Pick a few you like, go to the range and rent them, put 100 rounds through them and then make a decision. Also, carrying a full sized pistol is not always possible, and looking at the specs for the compact Jericho, it's not a monster, but it's not as small as I'd prefer. You might end up with two as I have. A full sized G22 that I can carry in cool weather and a G27 that's suitable for t-shirt and shorts. - Der
You might end up with two as I have. A full sized G22 that I can carry in cool weather and a G27 that's suitable for t-shirt and shorts.
Which is exactly the main pair that I settled on after years of trying to make other rigs work better. Only I also have a NAA .380 Guardian with a pocket holster for when it is impossible to carry a "real gun".

I don't have the time or money to do all that, so that's why I cam to the flood. I would like to compromise comfort and size. I was hoping the flood would be able to introduce me to a firearm that would satisfy such a need. So far, I have only gotten one reply that I am actually considering. Thanks for your input though.

Edited by Recon Number 54: 5/26/2014 6:31:19 PMI initially compromised on comfort and size and had the Glock model 22 along with a parade of other duty-sized pistols (CZ, 1911, DE, Ruger, FN, S&W, Springfield, etc.). The compromise is that all of them (in full size) are heavy to carry and in hot weather, are harder to conceal. The metal framed ones, even more so, though that is/can be helped by going to a single-stack mag instead of a double-stack). In the end, I chose the full-size that worked best for me and got its sub-compact equivalent. Full sized mags fit the sub-compact, I know and trust the cartridge, and most of the holsters are fine for either model.

So what did you choose?
