I must have played through this game two or three times... and every time, I went dual lightsabers and spammed Flurry the whole game.
Heard blasters was a lot tougher, and it never seemed appealing to me because I'd rather spend my precious feats on lightsaber-related stuff but maybe I could try it again with guns...

Edited by BannedCommando: 5/19/2014 8:38:06 PMSame here. Once I get the lightsaber I only use that and force lighting. This time I'm doing it or something new. So far it's not that bad because I have decent feats for it. I still haven't fought a Jedi though.

I'd like to think that it's not impossible to fight a Jedi with a blaster though. I mean, they're available throughout the whole game and plenty of feats and skills are dedicated just to them, and your main character is SUPPOSED to be more flexible to level up than the other characters. Do melee weapons confer any specific advantages in close-range combat as opposed to blasters at the same range? Do they have generally higher damage output or hit probability?
Do melee weapons confer any specific advantages in close-range combat as opposed to blasters at the same range?
I think your chances to hit are higher.
Do they have generally higher damage output or hit probability?
If you mod them you will get a higher damage output out of them.

I don't suppose I can kite the enemies in combat with a blaster, can I? Also, is the idea of the blasters that you just give yourself blasters but use other melee characters? Or is that just two different tiers of difficulty that you could put on yourself? I'm frightened by the idea of playing through the game with Bastilla swinging around a bowcaster! xD
If you want the best outcome you probably should have a melee fighter to close the gap. Right now I have Carth with 2 pistols, Ordo with his big gun and me with my 2 blasters. So far I'm doing good with that. I say once you start having enemies that use shields often you should have a good melee person.

Many thanks for the advice! And may you have many wondrous adventures, Meatbag!
