Then why is called an international space station if the US can't go?

Because Russia is currently in possession of the only way to get there. Thus they get to decide who can and can't go. Never mind the fact that the US is footing the bill for the ISS. Remember though, privatization of space exploration will save us all. Just forget about the fact that they're already decades behind schedule and will be charging massively inflated prices because they know they can get away with it.

The idea was that we'd shutter the shuttle program (something that NASA has actually been wanting for years) in order to build a more modern vehicle for getting into space. However it ended up getting given over to private industry so now we're stuck waiting on them until the competent people on congress can convince the loonies sitting in there that privatization of space exploration isn't going to work. Well at least not yet.

We have those, just enjoy sitting in a shuttle for several months or years, and then not coming back. I'm sure the red sand on Mars will look nice though.
