My knowledge of the situation in Syria is little to none. Who really are the "bad guys"?
EDIT: That's a really broad question, summarize if needed.

That depends on who you support, I guess.
-
In your opinion, which in this case would be the expert opinion.
-
The regime and jihadists.
-
Care to elaborate? (Not asking in a refuting way as I don't know anything about the subject, I just want to be more knowledgeable on the subject.)
-
Well I can't support a regime that is indiscriminately barrel bombing its civilians, utilizing starvation tactics, systematically torturing people to death, etc. I also cannot support the jihadists because I'm not a jihadist. I don't think an Islamic state is the best route. They also kill civilians, as well. I don't really know what you want to know here. Care to be more specific?

I'm not really sure, it's a deep situation to get into as so much has happened. Umm okay what in your opinion is the best route to "peace" in Syria? (I think you might have answered this already from someone else so just direct me to there if so.)
-
Well the question here was how to support the rebels without supporting the extremists, which is what I feel is needed in order to reach "peace" in Syria. So I will direct you there. But, I think we should pressure Assad on UNSCR 2118, which pretty much says he has to get rid of his CW stockpiles before the end of summer, which could possibly be met with Chapter VII repercussions (military force). To have any real peace without Assad, we will need to strengthen the SNC and push for more unity and cohesion among the moderate rebels. We also need to mitigate the influence and power of al-Qaeda-linked forces in Syria. We need to work with various countries to stem the flow of foreign fighters. We need to be working with regional partners to secure borders. And a slew of other things. I don't have much time to discuss this right now, unfortunately. I will also be going to D.C tomorrow and won't be back for around 8 days. I apologize for that. If you're interested, I can PM you my email and we can discuss more that way.
