Sure it would be. Beta comes after the Alpha test. Which the game is in Alpha now. Alpha and Beta are just terms used in the SDLC.

But the whole reason for a real beta is to test the game and if there is issues like weapon balancing or bugs they could make changes before launch.

Agreed... But that rarely happens. Because people don't report the issues... Lazy assess.
