PCs are far more powerful than consoles, so technologically, the PC is superior. However, deciding on which is better is subject to opinion. I believe the reason many gamers like consoles more is because they are extremely simple to use. For instance, on the console editions of Minecraft, you can set up a game simply by pressing a button to start the game and inviting your friends. On the PC, however, if you want to play a private game with your friends, you or a friend will have to set up a server, which will cost money, unless you use Hamachi or something like that. For many people, this is either extra money they do not want to spend, or just too complicated. Other people, like me, enjoy using consoles because social interaction is much more accessible. Again, with a click of a button, you can have your friend with you in a private or group chat, and it's all integrated into the console. On the PC, however, many games do not have built-in chat systems, excluding text-based chat. Because of this, if you want to talk to your friends while playing together on the PC, you have to set up a Skype chat, which is just an extra hoop to jump through. Couple this with setting up a server, and setting up a multiplayer game on the PC can become rather annoying. Now on to my next point. Sure, the PC is much more powerful than consoles, especially in the graphic area. However, just because you can not play Crysis 3 with 'ultra' graphics on an Xbox 360 does not make the game any less fun to play. I personally do not measure how good a game is by the graphic quality, and I know many people agree with me. If the majority of people really cared about graphics so much, then games like Minecraft or Terraria would not be popular. My point being is that you should not be disappointed in Bungie because they did not make their game any greater for the PC. The PC may be the superior machine, but graphics do not affect the gameplay of the game. Also, deciding which is better is subject to opinion. It's like the old Playstation vs. Xbox feud. Sure, the PS4 is technologically superior to the Xbox One, but many gamers prefer the Xbox One to the PS4, and that's a completely valid opinion to have. Everyone has their own opinions, and those opinions are not always based on what others base their opinions on.

Aside from BF, I haven't seen games that allow players to run their own servers, and even then, you have to go through EA to do it. The difference between dedicated servers on PC vs console, (using shooters as an example) is that on PC, they tend to be run by the community themselves, whereas on console, you have to rely on the publisher/devs. Imagine if players could run their own servers on console - virtually every game could be dedicated servers, without having to rely on the companies to deliver it. Avatar is a decent movie, and I will enjoy regardless the platform, but if I have the choice of watching it on vhs or blu-ray, I'm going to choose bly-ray... if you're playing a game that is fun, your fun likely won't be compromised by the visuals, but if you were to play that same game, on "ultra settings," your whole experience would likely be improved. Fun is derived from the merits of the game itself. The experience playing it can come from outside factors - visuals, surround sound, screen size, etc. It's also funny that you say " I personally do not measure how good a game is by the graphic quality," yet this is the biggest debate going on in the console war since they launched, so regardless what you personally think, it appears the community, both players and critics alike, would argue that mindset. Finally, your examples of Minecraft and Terraria are nor accurate. Those games are designed to look the way they do, it is not a result of poor hardware running them - it is a conscious art design choice. A more accurate comparison would be if you could play Mass Effect on 2 different platforms, one where it looked like Mass Effect, and one where it looked like Minecraft, which do you think more people would choose? Ironically, much of the features that console companies have been integrating into their systems, are inspired from PC. The bottom line is this - virtually everything a console can do, a PC can do, plus more. A console is merely a dedicated entertainment device, whereas a PC is a tool.

  • All of your points are 100% valid. The PC is clearly more powerful than consoles, but my aim is not to assert that consoles are better. I simply do not want people constantly trying to prove that their choice is the better option, and then acting irrationally because of it. An example of this behavior includes PC gamers acting entitled when they do not get what they want, such as the original poster of this topic, and then blaming it on favoritism or something like that. Another general example would be console gamers complaining that they do not have access to mods or to the graphic quality attained on the PC. The thing I hate most of all is when console or PC gamers attempt to make the other's choice seem as if it's a terrible one. For example, a lot of PC gamers love to talk about how utterly terrible consoles are, when compared to the PC. However, this just is not the case. The movie example you used is perfect in this situation. I have no doubt that if given the option, everyone would choose to watch Avatar in Blu-Ray rather than, say, 720p video. However, even though the Blu-Ray version is much better in terms of quality, does not mean the 720p version is bad at all. The 720p version is the same movie, but is just a little behind the Blu-Ray version quality-wise. Think of the 720p version of Avatar as consoles, and the Blu-Ray version as the PC. Even in this case, one might wonder why someone would want the 720p version. Honestly, I do not have the answer to that. People still buy consoles, even though the PC continues to outperform them. But just because one is better does not make the other terrible by default.

  • Well put, but seriously, paragraphs in long posts. Also, good PC > Console Crap PC < Console Its twice as expensive to get a good pc vs a console, and most of us have toasters for a computer.
