To play Devil's advocate:
There is no assured reality of Halo 5 going back to the gameplay that is known to retain players. Halo 4 was the best selling video game from Microsoft Studios, and this meant more revenue than past Halo games. 343i may well be dominated by corporate greed for Halo 5 just as how they were for Halo 4.
Or MAYBE, the abysmal DLC sales caused Halo 4 to end up making less than Reach and H3 after all, and the corporate greed will favor the gameplay that we love for the series.
It may also hinge on how well Halo 2 Anniversary fares. If it all turns out to be rose tinted glasses and it tanks, the first scenario is all the more likely. If the player base is as how they say themselves to be, and Halo 2 does better than Halo 4 ever did, then the second scenario is all the more likely.
Halo 4 was the best selling video game from Microsoft Studios
Why do people keep saying this? It doesn't mean what you think it means. The slogan was created with botched statistical data that holds no real relevancy or effect. All it means is that people were extremely hyped for Halo 4, and shit-loads of people preordered it or purchased it at launch. There's nothing exponential about the sales or the figures.
and this meant more revenue than past Halo games
It didn't make more money at all.
It may also hinge on how well Halo 2 Anniversary fares. I have a good feeling that both Halo 5 and some sort of Halo 2 Anniversary "thing" will be launching this year, in 2014. I hope Halo 5 is rescheduled for a 2015 release, but I find it unlikely since Microsoft NEEDS to sell Xbox Ones desperately.

H2A is a thing. Halo 5 is coming in 2015. Mark my words.
