People argue that the government doesn't have the authority to redefine marriage to fit their needs. Those same people seem to forget that years ago (And still in some places), marriage was equivalent to a business deal. You give me your four cows, you can marry my daughter.

But it's no longer like that. I mean, it's still a contract but people [i]normally[/i] get married to make a life-long commitment.

I'm aware its not like that. I'm using it as an example of showing how people ignore previous redefinition's of marriage.
