As long as Shazam isn't Man of Steeled, has an actual kid playing Billy, has Patrick Warburton as Captain Marvel, and is written and directed by Chris Columbus, I'll be cautiously optimistic and still won't forgive the name "Shazam".
If he gets put in the same movie as Superman eventually though, he'll get the usual treatment.

the rock is pretty much confirmed for playing black adam. i don't think monsieur johnson is going to let anyone downplay his universe, what with the "he needs to be able to go toe to toe with superman" comments
-
Nah, Rock will be Jon Stewart for JLA because "muh races" modern Hollywood and he's been talking shit on Green Lantern's behalf in the last year.

erm, no? the rock has pretty much confirmed that he's black adam.

Edited by U124926: 4/28/2014 2:28:35 AMBut Black Adam's not well known, let alone complex, although they can stretch "complex" to anything these days. Said in the same twitter Q&A. If Jason Momoa wasn't Aquaman I'd say him. All we know is: >well known >"complex" >"A Superman Level of Power" >pure badass mother-blam!-er Also, if Green Lantern is out because of the 2011 movie, that mean Ryan Reynolds as Hal in JLA? Oh boy.

but he basically confirms that he's black adam in that tweet. i mean he's mentioned him everywhere. as you've said complex isn't necessarily stringent nowadays, especially with comic book films. well known is a problem though. "never been played before" rules out green lantern. i'm still gonna bet on black adam though. he's mentioned him so many times. and aquaman's tough, but superman level of power? hue

Saying that his favourite "superhero" is Black Adam is no confirmation and that's the only place he's mentioned him whereas he's had multiple Stewart mentions. "Never been played," rules out Hal Jordan. If the Snyderverse wants to avoid Green Lantern because of the 2011 film, then he'll not be in at all. Also Aquaman in Snyderverse can be as powerful as he wants him to be, same with Wonder Woman, Cyborg, blah blah blah. Seems like they're trying to emulate Nu52 by having Cyborg on the team which means Supes is still the strongest and everyone else gets a power shift down. As far as Rock, based on this:

The first quality we were looking for was that he had to be extremely complex and have a lot going on. What that does for me as an actor and the studio is it gives us space that we can explore; his complexities. The other quality was that he had to — the character we were looking for had to be well-known but never brought to life. Then what that does again as an actor, it gives me a little bit of space, and we talked about personality. It just gives me a chance to put an imprint into his personality, with the set of tools that I could bring to the table and put a very unique twist on his personality, but still pay homage to who he is. The third thing — and most important — is he had to be a badass mother***ker, okay, and on a Superman level of power, where could throw down. In those three qualities, I’m happy we’ve found that character. Right now, we’re out to a lot of writers.

He'll likely be: -Black Adam: 1-2/3 depending on complexity -Lobo: 2/3 -Doomsday 2/3 -Manhunter 3/3 -Aquaman 3/3 But, given, WB's recent trend of WTF casting decisions like Eisenburg and especially Gadot, he could be someone completely out of left field like Plastic Man or some shit like that
which would be awesome.

Saying that his favourite "superhero" is Black Adam is no confirmation
it's a pretty big hint, i'd say.
and that's the only place he's mentioned him whereas he's had multiple Stewart mentions. "Never been played," rules out Hal Jordan.
he replied with "never been played" to a tweet that asked him about green lantern in general. not to mention i'm still pretty confident that mr. denzenator washington is still up for the role of stewart or something.
If the Snyderverse wants to avoid Green Lantern because of the 2011 film, then he'll not be in at all.
eeep i hope not snyder visuals + green lantern would be beautiful
Also Aquaman in Snyderverse can be as powerful as he wants him to be, same with Wonder Woman, Cyborg, blah blah blah. Seems like they're trying to emulate Nu52 by having Cyborg on the team which means Supes is still the strongest and everyone else gets a power shift down.
in terms of brute physical strength i don't mind supes being the strongest at all, actually. though it does cause problems in case they ever want to introduce martian manhu- ah who am i kidding?
-Black Adam: 1-2/3 depending on complexity
i dunno man, going off that tweet...
-Lobo: 2/3
hope it's not lobo.
-Doomsday 2/3
interesting... and cavill has also alluded to wanting to do a death of superman arc too. the last time he alluded to "wanting" something it was a batman/superman team up movie and look at how that turned out!
-Manhunter 3/3
manhunter? in new52 style dc? i hope it happens, but i just don't see it working out.
-Aquaman 3/3
but momoa...
But, given, WB's recent trend of WTF casting decisions like Eisenburg and especially Gadot, he could be someone completely out of left field like Plastic Man or some shit like that
#therockforextrano

Also now that I think about it, he could be Darkseid if DC wants to seriously just say "-blam!- it we'll do it anyway," since Marvel got to Thanos first so now all the casuals will think Darkseid is a Thanos rip off.
-
i think darkseid is pushing it a bit...
now that i've said that, wb will probably announce him as fcking solaris won't they?
-
Brainiac, something totally unexpected. Then we'll eventually get Jesse Eisenburg's head CGIed onto The Rock's body.
