I get a weird static/zap from muh PC.
My computer was plugged in, all switches were turned on (PSU switch, wall plug socket), and I got a tingly shock feeling from my PC case when I touched it(moved my finger across it) whilst I was holding the end of my HDMI cable (I was touching the contacts).
This also happens when i touch my case when my iPod charger is plugged into my 360 or TV (360 or TV was turned on).
What the hell is this?
I really hope it's not a fault in the house wiring.

EDIT: Yes, I've asked Tom's Hardware. They were no help at all.
EDIT: Been speaking with Crantius Colton. He said he's almost certain it's my PSU.
Going to get my uncle to bring his computer down to see if his does the same.

[/quote] Since it's not limited to your PC, I'm thinking it might be your house wiring.

4 RepliesI would consult an electrician, I don't know too much about electricity. I know basic circuits and stuff but this seems like a problem you shouldn't ask people on bungie about. It might be a problem with grounding.

Do you know how to build a pc? if not, its easy to learn. you should dissasemble the whole pc and look for any defects on every single device (if your toms hardware didnt already do). I would say its a cable, that is damaged and touches the computer case or somerhing like this.

9 RepliesEuropean outlets are weird, but do you know where the ground port is? Get a light copper wire and attach it to the ground, and also attach it to the metal case of your PC. This should obliterate any static.

I would try a different PSU in your PC if it's possible to get your hands on one to see if it's that. If not, you'll have to do some diagnosis, or get an electrician to diagnose it. Definitely earth leakage.
