Wednesday's signing came at an open-air picnic area along a creek in Ellijay, in northern Georgia. It opened with a prayer, the singing of the national anthem and a recital of the Pledge of Allegiance.
There are times where I feel like the US isn't a developed first world nation. This is one of them.

I can almost taste the mad

I know. I hate it when people sing the National Anthem! How dare they show support for their country!
-
Showing support for your country isn't the same as signing a bill into law out in a field after saying prayer (lol separation of church and state, amirite), chanting the anthem and reciting a pledge. That's just moronic and has no place in the 21st century.
-
The separation of church and state is irrelevant there. All they did was say a prayer they did not let the church influence their decisions. And who cares if they did it in a park? WTF difference does it make signing a bill into law in a park or doing it in a stuffy room?

I'll agree with this. I can understand signing a bill into law out in the open. But the prayer thing kind of defeats the purpose of the term "melting-pot" for America. You're pretty much right about this. The prayer part was completely unnecessary.
