visually, I see a lot of reach in destiny. this isn't too surprising considering they probably recycled a lot of stuff from the reach engine. why would they build a completely new engine from scratch for just one game?

All of Destiny's engines and assets are new, built from scratch for Destiny. The visual similarities you're noticing are a result of the same group artists having a hand in developing Destiny's look. Destiny is not one game. It's a ten-year franchise with four games.

  • I'm talking about reach in that last sentence

  • The 2014 GDC Character Customization panel makes it sound like Halo's engine (including Reach's) is too slow, limited, and cumbersome for Destiny. I do not believe Destiny's engine was up and run during Reach's development.
