i'm a little iffy on the marvel universe at times too, but this movie is really really good, even from a standalone point of view. my biggest problem with every marvel film is that the suspense factor is basically gone as it just feels like a "lol don't worry guys we'll make it out okay" kinda movie. this movie erases that complaint and basically turns the MCU on its head. it's basically like metal gear solid with 500 times more 'murica [much of that is due to the source material being very mgs-ish too... and pretty 'murica as well XD]. i'd recommend it even to people who aren't marvel fans.

I dunno, was there ever even a moment of doubt that Captain America would die or that good wouldn't eventually prevail? Marvel's movies are aimed at kids. Predictable outcomes, no profanity / nudity / anything close to gore, forced and unfunny jokes, nothing gritty... It's just so "clean" and censored in every possible way to ensure that no one could get shocked or offended and that even young children can go see it. I've seen every Marvel movie and even when I go in with the lowest of expectations and the plan of not putting much thought into the movie, I still end up feeling like I watched yet another children's movie.
