Why does every one think titans are going to be the big bad lmg users

I think you make a very valid point. I mean if you think about it a Titan with a sniper rifle wouldn't be to bad. It would catch the enemy off guard. they run up to kill, what they might think is a Hunter, then they find a Titan sitting there with his LMG or even pistol just mowing them down with very little damage from his enemy's. Any one can play the game how they want.

I'm going to assume that at a low level titans are just as strong as your average warlock but as they lvl up I think they become a walking tank where it they twice or thrice the amount of damage of a Warlock or Hunter of the same lvl.
-
Your theory is completely wrong. A tank doesn't get high damage. Tanks get high armor and hp, but low damage. That and what do you mean by strength? If you mean physical strength then sure they'll be the strongest. This won't effect their damage out put but there abilities, think about it. When it comes to damage out put they will all be equal, where we will see the titans heightened strength is in there abilities. Their abilities will have bone braking force and be based around brute force. The warlocks abilities will be based around magic. The hunters abilities will be based around speed and cunning. So your walking over powered tank isn't going to happen.
-
Oh so a if a Titan would would create the same amount of damage would it just absorb a little bit more damage than the hunter and warlock?
-
Actually if your building a tank style Titan you would be giving up damage for more armor or health. You'd do less damage then hunters and warlocks. On the other hand if your building a Titan for DPS (damage per second or the amount of damage out put) you'll be right on par with warlocks and hunters. It all depends on how you want to plan your character.
-
Is there a classification for something in the middle and the tank sounds only good if you are medic or your weapons deal crazy amounts of damage.
-
Incorrect good sir. Your tank is only good for survivability. Your a meat shield for your team, all of the enemies attack you so they don't attack your weaker team mates. So you take all the damage the healer keeps you alive and your third party member deals out the damage. But this style of play will mostly be on raids or strikes, you won't be using this normally.

Edited by CaptainPillow13: 4/21/2014 1:41:33 AMSo if I were to solo or do a majority of regular missions with a fire team I should go for DPS?
-
Again it kinda depends on your play style of your solo though campaign and such it might be faster to go DPS because you can blaze through everything, but as a tank with larger health and hp you can take on more enemies at one time and not risk dying but things will die slower. Either side had it's perks it just depends on how you want to play, personally I'll be a tank. Always have been always will be.
-
Alright I thank you good sir for you insight, I think I might go Tank as well so I can make my way through missions without dying.

My Titan rocks a pulse rifle.

Edited by H0RSE: 4/19/2014 7:32:39 AM
Why does every one think titans are going to be the big bad lmg users
It's called roleplaying... the same reason why people think Hunters will be master snipers.
-
But it's not role playing believe me I'm an avid role player I even have a back story for my Titan already, it's actually just a common misconception of the community. I can't count how many times I've read I'm going to play a Titan because I like lmgs or I want to be a hunter because snipers man, your class won't decided what guns you use but what your abilities will be
But it's not role playing believe me I'm an avid role player I even have a back story for my Titan already, it's actually just a common misconception of the community.
To a degree you're right, but there is still a roleplaying element - a "theme" than some player will strive for, which is why despite every class being able to use every weapon, you will see tons of Hunters wielding snipers.
-
We'll, Titans are the muscle of the fire team so I think yes. I'm going to be using assault rifle mainly.
-
Yes the muscles which will show in there supers like a massive ground pound or a should barge form hades, not in the weapons they use. That and the only one we've seen using an lmg is a magic using book toting warlock...
-
The wiki says they are experts with heavy weapons and despite the name LMG's tend to be heavy guns.
-
So where did the wiki get that? Because I haven't seen anything bungie released saying "hey titans will be total bad asses with heavy weapons". Look I expect the foci of ever class will give upgrades to any type of gun giving the player the ability to decide how they will play, for instance in PvE I plan on trying to tank, using drm shotgun and lmg where as in PvP i plan on using a auto rifle sniper rifle and a rocket launcher.
-
Fair point. But we assume Big guns can include LMG's because, well they're very big automatic weapons that can deal tons of damage. Although any Character can use any weapon I imagine that using a weapon matched to your class (Sniper for a Hunter) would perhaps deal higher damage than a Titan with a sniper.
-
I think a reason against that would be.. It makes one class op than others. And makes the Titan every ones bitch if you think about it
-
How do you think they'll be played?
-
Considering they can use any gun... I think they'll be played with any gun. Considering the only class we've seen using an lmg is a warlock I think that's a safe bet.
-
However the player wants dont be a cliche.
-
Perhaps Titans do more damage with LMG's than other classes?
