It's the best of the worst. The many references to the OT felt hamfisted (Chewie was second in command of KashyyyK?), and the rapid turn to the dark side was extremely unbelievable, but the action was awesome and Obi Wan tore shit up.

Mmmmm, Ewan McGregor.......

CHEWI WAS RELATED TO TARFUL (THE LEADER) I HEARD THEY WERE COUSINS.

I wouldn't say the turn was rapid. It started early in Episode 2...
-
One minute he's there to help arrest Palpatine after outing him to the council, the next he's slaughtering kids. That's pretty jarring.

It's definitely exponential, but it's impulsive and we came to learn that Anakin was a very impulsive character.

His decision to permanently join the dark side, slaughter dozens of kids, and suddenly hate Obi Wan isn't impulsive, it's just absurd. Cutting off Mace's arm? Yes, definitely something I could see. Then watch him tailspin as he's rejected by the Jedi and cast out as a traitor, with his only choice to return to his only true friend Palpatine? Yes. Cutting off Mace's arm and then instantly devoting himself to pure evil? No.

I simply see his turning as him seeing a validation for it. We have Jedi elders talk to him about it and hint that his disobedience was not a good thing. But when you have someone who agrees with his disobedience? Guess who he'll pick? Like a child, he'll side with the person who accepts him and gives him what he wants. Anakin was always wildly immature. After all, he was excessive in a lot of things he did, bringing them too far. As for permanence, as much as it's a technicality, it really wasn't permanence. He dies as a Jedi, not a Sith. Best of all, Anakin was just plain stupid.
