I would hardly call British actors "dominant" in Hollywood. They are prevalent, sure. But even in your example -- the only actor from Game of Thrones to even be nominated for a Golden Globe or Emmy (and he won both) was one of the few American actors on the show (Peter Dinklage).
The Forbes list of Hollywood's highest paid actors includes zero Brits, and their list of most powerful celebrities has no British actors or actresses in the top 50. AMC's list of the greatest actors of all time has no Brits in the top 10, and only 2 actresses on their list of the greatest actresses of all time are British.
There is no doubt that there are tons of great British actors in Hollywood, and some of them are among the greatest actors ever. There are a bunch of British actors/actresses that I personally count among my favorites. But I would tend to disagree that they are somehow "dominating" Hollywood; that simply doesn't seem true by any measure except a Super Bowl commercial.

Edited by Paulus magintie: 4/9/2014 8:31:17 PMDid I say wealthiest? Did I say of all time? You pulling up lists that don't mean anything to my OP. Many shows in the US have a large chunk of British actors on them (Rooster teeth listed some on their podcast last week), then you have British shows becoming more popular and how many Brits are now in Hollywood? (Like Superman and Batman as well as Spiderman). Awards don't even come into it either, saying they are pretty dominant now means a lot of films have British actors and actresses not winning awards. Edited by FoMan123: 4/9/2014 10:46:55 PMNo, you said dominant. To me (and I think most people), saying that "British actors have become dominant in Hollywood" means that Brits are beating out actors in Hollywood from any other country in terms of: 1. Quantity and/or 2. Quality and/or 3. Power. Yet Brits are not more numerous than Americans in American films and TV shows. None of the 2014 Academy Awards for acting went to Brits, and only 1 of the 14 2014 Golden Globes for acting went to a Brit. Nor did any British actors/actresses win Britain's own BAFTA awards in 2014, so I don't think you can claim nationalistic bias. And again, no British actors or actresses on the most powerful celebrities list, nor are they the highest paid. No dominance in any category. I therefore disagree, and I think my reasons/sources are relevant. An article where Bruce Willis says he likes Jason Statham and Daniel Craig as action stars is meaningless to "dominance" (and don't forget that the 5 highest-grossing-worldwide action films of last year, Iron Man 3, Fast & Furious 6, Gravity, Man of Steel, and Thor all starred non-Brits). And an article from two years ago that notes that 3 indie films at an indie film festival have Brits in starring roles is not evidence; the word "dominating" in the title is clickbait, not a conclusion based on any sound logic. Look man -- there are tons of British actors/actresses that I really like. This isn't a dig at British actors. I can list a dozen of my favorites off the top of my head without even trying. But I'm just saying that they're not "dominating Hollywood" by any stretch of the imagination.
