I don't mind them playing for tournaments or being super competitive. But please refrain from using that word in this context. It's like a "pro" monopoly player.

If they're paid to do this because they're good, then they're professionals. Much like how people fighting for balls are.

If the person is PROfessional and PROficient, what's the problem? Is there a particular difference from being a pro at sports? Or a pro at chess?
