Well, the reason their name is attached to a party is because that candidate endorses certain policies or values.

False. Ron Paul ran as a Republican only because it is almost impossible to get recognized without being a part of the Democratic or Republican party.

The point was that people voted for Obama or Romney because they were democrat/republican, not because they knew what the candidates wanted
