  • And further more it ties in with the first soul's true theme. Futility, and fighting the inevitable. On the grand scale of things, what are you? What are you to the impossibly vast clockwork of existence? In the longrun, you are nothing, and all the choices you make will not stop the fact that everything in existence, will all one day lead to the same road. But, you can't be nothing completely, because there wouldn't be nothing without something. And evidently, you are something. Every single choice you make, has an impact, on your life, on your existence. Even the simple choices you make will one day lead to what your future generations of family may do, or believe, or maybe not even existing at all. And it gives you hope. You ignore the clockwork above you that marches on without mercy and consideration, and carve your own existence from reality, and do so, to the bitter end.

  • That about sums up my first playthrough of DS1. I still haven't managed to beat Ornstein and Smough.
