knife/gun grip
Would you like to be able to customize how your character holds certain items such as knives, swords, guns, etc.
I would honestly love the opertunity to be able to hold my knife and gun in different unique ways and change it based upon the scenario. Maybe even hold my duke sideways. Throw my knife sidearm instead of overhand. It would be awesome to customize every aspect of my character.
And yes, this allows for a lefty/righty option.

Holding them ala MGS3 would be pretty boss.

I'd like to have that option. If you've ever played Warframe, you can customize the stance of your frame in different ways, which this post reminded me of.

They would probably create different animations on how you pick up, hold, and from throw knives and weapons

Back awhile in weekly Deej gave a pretty positive response to a question similar to your request to turn the gun on its side. It wasn't a confirmation but I got the feeling the subject probably was breached by one or more of the Bungie staff during the course of the project.

I personally have pondered this many times. It would be taking "fighting style" to the next level. Instead of it simply being determined by how you play and what weapons you use, you could actually choose how your character fights. How will you hold your knife, blade up or blade down? Are you a lefty or a righty? Even something like whether you dolphin dive, knee slide, or straight up baseball slide could add an immense amount of immersion for players. It really is in the little details.

The small amount of immersion that would add to a minority of players isn't worth all the extra animation, rigging etc.

Yeah hold your gun sideways. Let's see how much crap you can actually hit. But if it looks cool I guess it's alright? Seriously I can see like doing a righty or lefty thing. But if some guy is holding his gun sideways I will not play with other people simple as that.
