What if the traveler IS dead, and it used its last bit of energy to trap the darkness inside of it. Everytime a guardian uses some of the travelers power, we make the prison weaker. Believing that we are fighting to awaken the traveler, in doing so, we unwittingly unleash the darkness.

You could ask the same question even if it was alive. It's space magic bro, anything's possible.

Edited by ashdelete: 3/7/2014 9:13:30 PMI'm being serious. There's a massive orb floating above the earth and you're saying 'but how could it float if it's not alive?'. My serious answer is space magic lol. It's like if an alien race found one of our spaceships and was like 'how is that light blinking if it's not alive?'

I think of the traveller as a being, if a person is dead they no longer stand up and walk around, the traveler is the same, but with floating

Maybe. According to the lore very little is known of the time, and very little is known about the awoken. So for all we know it could be some kind of spaceship that brought the awoke here. Or it could have been a weapon built by some other civilisation. So many possibilities that we can't really make any assumptions about what it is or isn't.

yeah, we can't know for sure.
