Yup. and when AT&T takes up the same policy, I'll switch to Comcast until Fiber comes around and saves us all

Comcast is actually just as bad if not worse. Most of Comcast's bandwidth is used for Netflix. Because of that they're forcing Netflix to pay for bandwidth that the customers are already paying for and if they don't then Comcast slows down the connection to Netflix's servers.

Edited by Verios44: 3/1/2014 3:00:44 AMComcast? Do yourself a favor and avoid those vultures as much as possible. My experience with them is cheap service, a unreliable modem and on top of that customer service that doesnt give a bam
-
Yeah I know, I've had them before, but I won't stand for this sort of payment and AT&T seems like they'd be next. Also, in the 10 months I've had AT&T I've realized, Comcast wasn't half as bad. Meh, the US isn't the best for the internet, sadly and ironically.

The US is actually on the bottom of the list when it comes to internet infrastructure. Look at Europe. Fiber everywhere. Beautiful. And also our own govt through the FCC has limited public access internet to 120mbs or less internet speed. Heck Google got yelled at last year for breaking that limit because they can. My biggest issue with Comcast is their apperant disregard for any kind of customer service. When I dropped the service, my bills were completely paid off and was told I wouldnt get a bill. What do I get? A f#$&in bill. A month later and multiple claims that its been fixed I may have no choice but to pursue legal action. Anyway, it sucks when in my area its either ATT or comcast for decent internet. Either DSL or the vultures. Love where I live but ....

Yeah, same damn thing. It sucks to know that this policy is happening because of that stupid bill passed. I'm hoping Google gets here before AT&T turns
-
Good luck mate. Anyway that bill was passed entirely out of fear. I think it was 2011, but for 2 months, China data server farms were processing about 80% of the world's internet traffic including government, military and public. At least I think that little demonstration was a key factor for that decision.

What service do you have btw?
-
I have a work issue Verizon Myfi unit I use now. My employer was happy to allow its use for my personal needs as they pay a flat rate for 5mbs unlimited per unit. Pretty reliable as long as I dont have more than 2 devices connected at once plus its portable.
-
Not bad, think this will affect you?
-
For now, no I doubt it. Still sucks losing a 50mbs plan, but even than I was lucky to get a max of 30. So a reliable 5 mbs is imo better than a unreliable 50.
