Xenodermus Javanicus is the featured photo Also called the Dragon Snake Snakes in hats are literally the cutest thing in the world as well. Have you ever had a pet snake? And what's your favorite? It's late and I wish to possess all da slimey snakeys

  • This is definitely not my pet, nor do I really wish it was. This photo was taken a few years ago, and it really introduced me to the realisation that these things are intimidating. Very cool, but intimidating. This thing was pure muscle.

I had one for a year, he was from my AP Bio class. His name was Bodacious and he was a bull snake. Sadly, he got sick and died a year later. I don't know how he got sick, but the person taking care of him at the time did take him to the vet so I hope he didn't suffer. I named him too. Pic is related it's him.

        • I have a rattlesnake skin mounted on my wall. During the process of skinning it, my brother took little chunks if fat off the snake and threw them at me. Gross.

Well due him I now have the irresistible urge to find a snake and eat it. I don't mean taking it and putting it in spices and shit. I mean cutting the snakes head off, creating a fire, gut it and skin it then cooking it. Later i'll do the normal way and cook it normally. Or when it's hot enough out, wrap the body in tin foil then bury it, wait a few hours then eating it.

My dad used to find ring necks in the garage and escort them out. And there's also this black racer that used to get into our pool by accident. First couple of times he would run from our attempts to help him out but by the third time or so he just let us take him out when he noticed us. Some time later one of my dad's friends was painting our house (he owns a painting company and does guitar lessons), noticed the "little" guy spying on him through a bush, and the snake let himself/herself be picked right up for a photo. Not sure if it's still in our lawn, but for quite a whole now it certainly has lived on one side of our house, then some time even longer under the old play set. Hopefully that snake still is, friendly non-venomous snakes are great defenses against invading insects and whatnot.

            • This snake lives in the basement. I guess we had some mice down there and he got comfortable.

I've been bitten three times. Envenomated once. One was a Green Tree boa, another was a baby Ball Python, and the third was a Timber Rattlesnake. Worst part about it was the anti venom. They keep that stuff just above freezing, and don't warm it up before the hour long injection process. I still don't mind snakes, but they seem to have a distrust towards me.
