As you said, it's a big grey area. Like anything, it's mostly going to come down to context. If you want to talk about the political aspects, ramifications and said laws, and other stuff like that, then generally it will be OK.
As you described, if you go around talking about it like the examples you gave in your post, then it will probably be removed. It is still widely illegal, and it would be best not to discuss usage here at this time.

Thanks for the response, this is mostly my curiosity speaking. I'm kind of interested in when this will be okay, at what point will it be okay to talk about it like beer or wine or cheese? When half of the U.S. legalizes it, will the CoC regarding this change? Or would it have to be a larger majority?
