Assuming you mean the mobile app version, YouTube thought updating meant trying to break everything that worked, provided it wasn't an advertisement.

No advertisement that I can't skip last longer than 25 seconds. Hardly an inconvenience, especially when those are what's keeping YouTube free.

I was complaining about the ads typically working better than the videos. And YouTube is now owned by a large company and expected to produce revenue.
