The game would have to change drastically for that to work. So no.

  • I do. The game just wouldn't be appealing to anyone.

  • Look at Halo 4. People wanted more casual and and accessibility, and look what happened to it. If Halo was over 16 players you'd essentially just be playing as marines due to all the alterations that have to be made. Halo is an arena shooter, not spunk-gargle wee wee.

It wouldn't work right if everyone had the same traits as every other Halo game. The kill times would have to be either longer or just very quick. By then you're just playing something that Halo isn't too familiar with. 8v8 works so well with Halo because it lies within the right amount of player to still keep it's Arena styled traits. Anymore than that and it could essentially become a no shield game. Weapons would have to be nerfed beyond belief, Maps even bigger, and Power weapons thrown about everywhere.

  • Increasing the player count just to increase the player count is a bad idea. However, increasing the player count to expand vehicular gameplay is a valid reason that can work well. While I've obviously never playtested 16+ players, I have played on maps with expanded vehicular gameplay. When you have access to Pelicans, Jets, Seraphs, Phantoms, etc. the game becomes something different, but very much still Halo. The problem with only an expanded vehicular sandbox is that the maps have to be larger, and with 16 players on a much larger map the gameplay stagnates at times. Adding more players is a logical solution that could add something to Halo's gameplay without changing it into something it's not.

  • A lot of changes would have to be made at 343's point. Spawns would have to be blocked off, vehicles would have to be balanced along with the infantry, and the variety of maps would have to be extended to appeal the Classic Halo experience.

  • Spawns could be handled a number of ways. Blocking spawns off doesn't really help much, as the teleporters players would need to use to exit their bases could be camped. Bro-spawning and choosing where to spawn, like in Invasion, could work well and help players get back into action quicker. Vehicles and players being balanced is rather obviously needed. There are a number of ways to approach this issue as well. Players could spawn with DMRs, or a semi-auto & automatic weapon, to work for close quarters and long range with infantry; a weapon that is best at long range is only suggested because this is likely the range at which players will encounter enemies the most, unless the maps are designed with Infantry and vehicle sections. To help players not get constantly wrecked by some of the larger vehicles, a light-ish anti-vehicle weapon could be the secondary. While this has the potential to be demanding work for the developers, it would be new for Halo, could be turned to be innovative for the genre, and would be much more likely to be positively recepted than adding more CoD/modern FPS features.
