It's always been that way. Since it started.
Even though the games are older, it's why I've loved Games with Gold for LIVE over PS+'s "free" games. With G4G, the games are on my HDD (well, 2tb external HDD, but you get the idea). Even if LIVE gets shut off or I happen to lose service, I can still play those games as much as I want.
With the games I've gotten for PS+, if I quit playing or PSN goes down, I can't play any of them because Sony doesn't let me actually own the games.
And people said MS's DRM was bad... lmao
At least with MS's DRM, I'd still own my games. By the way; everyone is singing the high praises of Playstation Now (or whatever Sony's streaming service for all PS games is called), but I wonder if they all realize that there is an additional cost for that over the cost of PS+, and then you don't even get those games if PSN goes down or you quit paying for PS+.
Bet the Sony-drones won't ever mention that little flaw in the plan. lol

True story.

Except it's not.

I like how this post is just full of lies. "You can't play the PS+" games offline" You know you're a fanboy when you have ti lie about the competition to make it look like a shitter service than it actually is.

-
Not the "free" ones.
-
Edited by Dylan is Grump: 2/18/2014 3:08:16 PMNox is actually flat out lying: The game has your scheduled ps+ expiration date attached to it, you can play offline as long as the user is on the console and it isn't passed that date. I can play my free Vita games anywhere I go, wifi or not.

Edited by Lil_Peace_Doe: 2/13/2014 4:38:32 PMWell then how am I playing borderlands 2 right now while my ps3 is offline? Hint* you can play ps+ games while offline
-
Edited by Lil_Peace_Doe: 2/12/2014 9:29:13 PMEveryone knows ps now will cost more if you want to use it, they've said that from the beginning. News flash: you can still play your ps+ games while offline. don't even try to pretend like GwG is better. Lmfao

Edited by VIC: 2/12/2014 8:11:00 PMYou can play PS+ downloaded titles offline and if PSN goes down. The console won't try to verify the validity of the license owned until the PS+ subscription is set to lapse. Not all DRM is bad. The [current] DRM setup for PSN and Steam are not nearly as draconian as what MS was proposing, hence the outrage. Not knocking XBL though. Both are good services; I'm just trying to set the record straight. ;)
Even if LIVE gets shut off or I happen to lose service, I can still play those games as much as I want.
Shame they're mostly shit.
With the games I've gotten for PS+, if I quit playing, I can't play any of them.
wat And yeah, it does seem inconvenient. Guess the quantity and quality of the games makes up for it, though.
And people said MS's DRM was bad... lmao
It was worse: it applied to using the console full stop.
At least with MS's DRM, I'd still own the games.
Nope: they continuously mentioned the 'right' to play the game with an Internet connection or single profile only. Thank -blam!- they dropped all that.
By the way; everyone is singing the high praises of Playstation Now (or whatever Sony's streaming service for all PS games is called)
That's what it's called.
I wonder if they all realize that there is an additional cost for that over the cost of PS+
I expect so.
and then you don't even get those games if PSN goes down or you quit paying for PS+.
I don't know if PS Now is reliant on + to be playable, but yeah, no shit you wouldn't be able to stream a game if the network goes down. That's just common sense.
Bet the Sony-drones won't ever mention that little flaw in the plan. lol
Do I qualify in your eyes? Because there's me, talking about it.

With the games I've gotten for PS+, if I quit playing, I can't play any of them.
wat And yeah, it does seem inconvenient. Guess the quantity and quality of the games makes up for it, though.
But again, Quantity and Quality mean nothing when if you quit paying for either service, those games are still gone as if you never had them, and you will have spent all that money too...

And people said MS's DRM was bad... lmao
It was worse: it applied to using the console full stop.
Opinion. there are those of us who were fine with the DRM and could actually relate it to the DRm Steam has (and it was actually going to be like that), which everyone loves.

At least with MS's DRM, I'd still own the games.
Nope: they continuously mentioned the 'right' to play the game with an Internet connection or single profile only. Thank -blam!- they dropped all that.
Naw, they'd have simply updated the One once service for that system was going to go down to remove the DRM for the obsolete machine once the gen after this one was in full swing. It wouldn't be that hard.

By the way; everyone is singing the high praises of Playstation Now (or whatever Sony's streaming service for all PS games is called)
That's what it's called.
Thanks for the clarification.

I wonder if they all realize that there is an additional cost for that over the cost of PS+
I expect so.
Sony has already said that there will be.

and then you don't even get those games if PSN goes down or you quit paying for PS+.
I don't know if PS Now is reliant on + to be playable, but yeah, no shit you wouldn't be able to stream a game if the network goes down. That's just common sense.
What I meant was: You have to pay for both services in order to get their free games as well as the streaming service. Quit paying for either, all those games are gone. The quality of the games doesn't matter (again) if you've spent all that money for the services, then to have the games go away should you hit a snag in your finances. Those games are simply gone at that point. Wiht LIVE, that doesn't happen. The games are mine permanently.

Bet the Sony-drones won't ever mention that little flaw in the plan. lol
Do I qualify in your eyes? Because there's me, talking about it.
Wasn't speaking of you specifically, sorry if it came across that way. I was more poking some fun at how the Sony fanboys would constantly rave about how much betterSony's free games program was over LIVE's free games program. Difference is owning vs. renting. PSN goes down, all the free games you received are gone. LIVE goes down, I still have and get to play my games.

Edited by Hunter: 2/12/2014 5:08:59 PMYou mean it was going to be like Steam? Where I can go offline indefinitely and still play my single player games? Oh, that's right. No it wasn't.

Actually, Sony is considering coupling ps now with ps+. Food for thought
-
If that's food for thought, then it's lasagne night literally and proverbially. :D
-
But then you're paying for two services to play those games. Quit paying either one (or both), and those games are gone.

If they bundle it, that'd be cool. As it is right now, it's paying for two services. I own PS systems as much as I do Xbox systems. I really do hope they make a bundle that might cost a bit more than PS+ by itself, but is lower than the two separate costs combined. If I could get both in one payment, that would be ideal, so I hope that they make it a reality. Unfortunately, until they start letting you download the full games to a HDD, their free games program does little for me. Actually... now that I think about it. If they get Playstation Now off the ground (metaphorically), then every PS+ user could stream any Sony games, anywhere, over a variety of systems. If you've got access to that kind of library of games, doesn't that make their free games program obsolete? Why rent the "free game" if you're going to have access to it streaming anyway?
