I use one on my 360 and PS3, it is useful to have.

I didn't know you could do that. Now that I know I may use it for when I'm browsing the Internet or something.

There are several MMO's slated for release on the One, a keyboard would come in very handy there. And apparently they were used enough on the 360, and then asked for with the One, that they included it in this update.

They might, but I think a USB Keyboard would be much easier.
