I have plenty of responsible 14-year-old friends who go out airsofting every weekend, and never get injured.
Your point?

So we should allow 14 year olds to buy alcohol and drive? By your logic this should be the case.
-
dat strawman doe

Its not a strawman. Its a legitimate analogy. OP states 18+ for airsoft. That would make it like alcohol or driving.

Edited by DJ Mentle: 1/30/2014 2:50:56 AMWhat makes Airsoft as "bad" as drinking or driving? Drinking has profound negative impacts on underaged brains, and driving runs a serious risk of accident, injury, or death. Airsoft is just a pastime, I don't see people going around shooting up schools with their plastic pellet guns.
-
No. Studies show they do not have the coordination and ability to safely drive. Alcohol causes damage to the developing brain, which is extremely the case with 14 year olds.
-
But there are more developed and advanced 14 year olds! We should deny them too?
-
No, because the brain doesn't finish developing until about one's mid-twenties.
-
Alcohol and driving are completely different things

Edited by RC5908: 1/30/2014 1:45:12 AMdamn charlie, really straw-manning it up in here, aren't you?
-
It's not rly a strawman tho
-
To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having denied a proposition by replacing it with a different proposition (i.e., "stand up a straw man") and then deny it ("knock down a straw man") instead of the original proposition.
Nope, sounds like a strawman to me.

It sounds like an analogy to me, but tomatoes tomatos I guess.

If I built up an unrelated topic, and the linked it to an argument and then burned it down, then yes. So far these are legitimate analogies.
