Arizona GOP censures McCain for being too liberal

Delivering a strong rebuke to U.S. Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republicans passed a resolution to censure the one-time presidential nominee for what they characterize as a liberal record that has been "disastrous and harmful" to the state and nation... "Only in times of great crisis or betrayal is it necessary to publicly censure our leaders," the resolution said. "Today we are faced with both. For too long we have waited, hoping Senator McCain would return to our Party's values on his own. That has not happened." McCain's offenses cited in the resolution included working on comprehensive immigration reform, or "amnesty," and not going along with last year's conservative strategy to "defund" President Obama's signature health-care law. The resolution just places a label on the senator since it has no practical effect. It also says that state Republicans "will no longer support, campaign for or endorse John McCain as [their] U.S. Senator." John McCain is widely known for supporting Pres. Obama so much that he ran against him in 2008. The censure of a radical politician like McCain shows how Republicans are simply making sure that their centrist principles stay alive. McCain's extreme leftism could be spread throughout the state - and even the country - bringing our productive government to a grinding halt.

  • You know a party's gone insane when they start kicking out their own moderates.

    • Not surprised. They also kicked out Michael Steele (the man responsible for winning them a bunch of house and senate seats) because he said that the policy of obstructionism that the Republican party is practicing is only serving to hurt the country and that Republicans should compromise and work together with Democrats and independents.
