It would destroy the main appeal of the franchise if difficulty were reduced.

Not if it has the ability to choose your difficultly like most games. The game would still have it's "main appeal" difficultly for the people getting it for that.
-
I get that. What I'm suggesting is a scenario where you can choose between "classic" Dark Souls and "beginners" mode.

People would complain that the game is being over-casualized. Saying ' I beat Dark Souls' would mean nothing if there was an easy mode.

And even if they do they still might not give a damn. The game having an easy mode still wouldn't change anything since you can still beat it on its real mode. So you can still tell these gamers that give a damn you beat the game on real mode. If you really want a video game achievement to brag about then do something like beating Super Mario with the Power Glove. Also it's a video game you beating it still didn't amount to anything.

You're taking this way too serious.
Saying ' I beat Dark Souls' would mean nothing if there was an easy mode.
It's a video game. It already means nothing.

Agreed. You get a satisfaction feeling from it, but you still didn't do anything that's going to change anything in the real world. All you get is an achievement or trophy which your number doesn't even get you anything in gaming. At the end of the day you beating the game is no different from you not beating the game.

It's a fair point. If there was a casual mode I don't think Dark Souls would be as infamous and that's why I'm torn about this issue. For me I badly want to enjoy the game but replaying the same scenario over and over is ruining my experience. But I understand for others that's part of the appeal.
