I honestly believe if you haven't played halo and are not good at it you will fail at this game.
I think you have that backwards. In my experience, CoD players can easily hold their own in Halo games, but Halo players don't last long in CoD.
Halo started it all with fps
Uhh... Golden Eye.
Cod is way to fast paced with kills
Which is actually more like what Destiny is going to be.
Halo actually takes skill and precision when shooting
Both games take skill, they just each take a different set of skills.
Cod all u need to do is spray and pray
You could do that, and you might get a lucky kill every now and then, but in the long run, that won't be an effective strategy.
Halo movement is a tactical advantage (dodging, ducking, strafing)
You can do those things in CoD... Well, maybe not dodging.
Let's play call of duty and lay on the ground with a shotgun in the bushes until someone walks by
Again, like the spray and pray, you may get a couple kills that way, but a good player can handle it.
Any halo player can demolish someone on call of duty
Again, that hasn't been my experience. Most Halo players I see in CoD get demolished.

 • The point was to pick a console FPS with multiplayer before halo.

 •
The point was to pick a console FPS with multiplayer before halo.
The OP is still right ... DOOM got there first. Doom was available on the Atari - with multiplayer - in the early/mid 1990's. This whole mythology around Halo is everywhere - and annoying. Halo is also named as an xbox live launch title - when it wasn't ... but this is going OT.

 • I wasn't saying anyone was wrong. My goal was not to say the first one, but just one that came out before Halo.

 • In my experience, Halo players do well in CoD (rather than being demolished, as you said) because they already have the thumb skill and simply need to learn how the game works as far as where they need to go. With automatic weapons and extremely fast kill times, CoD does not encourage high thumb skill, unlike Halo with its much longer kill times and semi-automatic weapons. With CoD's linear maps, position is everything. Both games require skill, but Halo has more difficult firefights by far.

 • They require the same set of controller skills, exactly. They differ in tactics and strategy. Halo's tactics are far more complex and take much more focus. In CoD (or BF) it's essentially hide-and-seek, whereas in Halo there are many things that you can do to change the fight. In that regard, Halo obviously takes more skill. Strategy is the only area that you can make any case for CoD taking more skill, only because map control is much more difficult, so completing objectives requires a lot of SWAT-style coordination of movement. I'd argue that's mostly because the maps are generally awful, lack any semblance of design, and don't have the mutually supporting positions that Halo maps have. As far as CoD players being apt to switch, my CoD-playing friends made me such a challenge when I was back in high school. They were high ranked on the Gamebattles ladders for MW2 and I was ranked high on the H3 GB ladders. They told me I don't like CoD because I wasn't good at it. I picked it up and immediately had better recoil aim than anyone on there, because dealing with a person shooting back at you is much harder in Halo. By the time I learned the maps, I was beating all of the pubs... Within 2 months, I was better than all of them, both in stats and in head-to-head matchups. Comparatively, they could never adapt that way to Halo, not even H4, which borrowed a lot from CoD.

 • I have never met a dead eye in any cod like the ones I meet in swat on halo. Good halo players are the best I've come up against in any GPS.
