All the characters, save Halsey and Jul, are either dull or stupid or annoying. Palmer just shouts, Gek and majestic just -blam!- up, glassman just gets caught, Thorne and Lasky just look bad and act like emotionless GI Joes. The story was just kinda crap as well. Why was there a promethean soul? What was its purpose? Why is Thorne so whiny? Why are the Elites so stupid? Why the -blam!- did requiem have to be thrown into the sun? Thats like the fifth ginormous complex forerunner super structure thats easily been blown up in Halo. The entire thing coulda been replaced by Jul and Halsey just facepalming. Roland was alright though, but his personality didn't match his look at all.

 • I've always liked Lasky, and nobody likes Palmer. Thorne and Majestic aren't supposed to be characters in any serious sense, just there so the audience has a narrative anchor in the action on Requiem. Even then, they get involved with the attempted assassination of Halsey, Lasky's human side shining through the militaristic and clinical (and frankly annoying) regimen of Palmer, and Osman too. 343 was no doubt going somewhere with the Composed people from New Phoenix on the Requiem artefact, but without a second season, I doubt we'll find out any time soon. Yeah, the Elites are pretty underpowered. Requiem getting tossed into its local star was just damn cool, an awesome way to destroy it. My guess is the system was a failsafe were the Flood to infest one of the few safe havens left in the galaxy after the rings detonated.

 •
Thorne and Majestic aren't supposed to be characters in any serious sense, just there so the audience has a narrative anchor in the action on Requiem.
. How? A narrative could've easily been supplied by Roland and Palmer. They're just poorly written characters, who don't really go beyond the bland goodie, the cocky leader, his annoying sidekick, the black guy, and the scot. Same with Palmer and Lasky, the 'tough' sarge and the guy who has no personality other than the fact he does 'good' things, despite being in morally unstable scenarios.
343 was no doubt going somewhere with the Composed people from New Phoenix on the Requiem artefact, but without a second season, I doubt we'll find out any time soon.
It was only in ep 5, and never seen or mentioned after that. Its been done in four other halo games, and was just kinda stupid in this one. And how the hell would Jul even figure that out, let alone allow it, to happen? He belongs to a cult that worships forerunner technology, and humans are the best ones at accessing it.
