I think that I agree with Iwata on keeping their exclusives well... exclusive. I say this because sure, it would be cool to be able to play Zelda or Mario on Xbox but the xbox is not a system designed by Nintendo with their games and what they wanna do with them, in mind. Though they should definitely try to keep 3rd party devs in mind as well, which they haven't. That's not to say that Iwata is right on not making a couple spin-off games or something for phones and/or tablets, but I agree that they shouldn't essentially become 3rd party developers.

But the "status quo" that you're arguing they keep is what is tanking them right now, and has been for years. Nintendo needs to make some radical changes to get back to a competitive stand point in the industry and market, but they're refusing in typical Nintendo fashion. Their bull-headed approach that "we've just go to keep holding the line and we'll come out of this just fine" is actually hurting their company in way s that they refuse to recognize.

If by "radical changes" you mean becoming more 3rd party friendly, learning to develop HD games in a more timely fashion, learning that the internet is a huge part of the future of gaming and that they need to make some games that take advantage of that, and that they REALLY need a new way of advertising their console then I completely agree. What do you mean "been tanking them for years"? I was under the impression that the Wii-U (which hasn't been out or even 2 years) is what has been tanking them and that the Wii and 3DS were huge successes.

This is their third straight year reporting a loss rather than a gain, and that's even tallying in 3DS sales. They've been bleeding money at a pretty decent pace since before the Wii U ever came out, but the Wii U has turned that into a dire situation with as badly as it has flopped. They have blown all the Wii money that die-hards try to keep claiming Nintendo has plenty of, and have been operating at a loss for almost five years straight. And as far as your first paragraph, yes; those are exactly the changes I am thinking needs to be done, and even a CEO change would probably be in their best interests, though he's already said that he refuses to step down.

Edited by tntbabin: 1/20/2014 6:12:43 PMHmm, well now I'm curious. If if Nintendo has been operating at a loss for 5 years, the Wii-U has only been for a little over a year(we'll say a year and a half to simplify things), and both the Wii and 3DS sold(in the case of the 3DS, still selling) so well then what has been draining their pockets for the other 3 and half years?

I would imagine that they pumped much of it into the Wii U development, and then development of their online service (which also isn't working out for them). But the major concerns amongst stock holders and stock analysts is that no one knows where the money went, it is just bleeding out and has been for a bit. That's one of the big worries.

So their money has basically just been disappearing? I could see how that would have people concerned... Surely no one at Nintendo is dipping their hands into the company's money... Right?
