windows 8
There is your mistake. Should have gone with Windows 7.

8 is much faster. I can boot up my rig in a fraction of the time I could with Windows 7. I do miss my start menu, though. :(
-
I have an SSD and boot time is so fast already ... so win 8 doesn't really do a thing to me in terms of program boot time lol
-
Ah, I see. Well, with certain games (i.e. Project Spark) requiring Windows 8 to run I'm thinking that a lot of PC gamers are going to have to make the switch sooner or later. I'll keep Windows 7 on my laptop, though.
-
yeah luckily there are no games I'd care to own that require a specific OS. Chances are if a game did require an OS I didn't own I would just skip the game for one that can run on different OS's like it's always been. I don't just play games on my pc and have lot of projects and renders going on so flashing my ssd with a new OS and having to set everything up is not something I care to do every year lol

Windows 8 and 8.1 are better by far and that is coming from someone who has used them for over a year and has actual experience to base their opinions off of.
-
I've used 8 as well and like 7 much more but whatever floats your boat.
-
Sure you have. And by used Windows 8 you probably mean you demo'd it.
-
no, I have had to use the full OS before at work and I don't care to use it for my personal computers. Like I said before already. I like win 7 way more. I'm not into the metro style interface at all.
-
I don't even use the Metro Start, there's no need for it when you can press an easy to remember combination of buttons and get to where you need to faster than any other OS can. Boot times are significantly improved, firewall wasn't crap for once, rarely any problems, easy to use interface. I don't see why people hate it so much other than it's ugly Metro style.
-
I just don't need it and don't want it. I really don't have to explain myself on my personal preferences on why I choose not to'upgrade' (in my opinion downgrade) to win 8. My workflow on win 7 is perfect. I don't just buy new OS's for the heck f it. You know the motto "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Totally cool if you like it but I do not. This article explains pretty well why I wouldn't care to get 8 and just skip to 9: http://www.informationweek.com/software/operating-systems/windows-9-what-we-know/d/d-id/1113422

I hear M$ is trying t distance themselves from 8 as quickly and as far as possible. The rumors are that Metro will be totally rid of with and Windows 8 apps become desktop applications. Much like a smart phone but this OS is built with Desktop in mind and not Tablet.
