Whilst the Balrog did technically kill Gandalf, he fought him one on one. Gandalf didn't try to fight Smaug one on one and even though Smaug died to a normal human I feel like he may have been kind of distracted. I don't know.
This is a tough one. But I'll say Smaug because Gandalf took out a Balrog singlehandedly.
The real question is can they actually harm each other?
