Before anyone gets too excited: remember that this is the guy who did Prometheus.

He's prolific, no doubt. He has his hits and misses.

>there are people on the flood right now that thought Prometheus was good

Edited by Hipi07: 1/13/2014 5:46:32 AMPrometheus is one of the best sci-fi movies to come out recently. You MUST watch it various times to see all the hidden messages and meanings behind in the movie. Chris Stuckman does an amazing explanation of Prometheus. Look it up on YouTube. It'll change your perspective on the entire thing.

What's the hidden message behind the geologist who was in charge of mapping out the cave system getting lost in the same cave system like 30 minutes later?
-
I'm sorry, I didn't realize that was the most important part of the entire movie. Nor was it a pivotal moment. It was stupid, but he was meant be killed so who cares.
-
How about the other scientist that put his finger in the mouth of an alien worm after he just got done ranting about how scary the alien corpses were? How about the two lead archaeologists getting pissed off and heading back to the ship because the aliens they wanted to meet were dead...even though they had a whole abandoned ship and tons of corpses to study? How about all the scientists losing their shit at aliens that had been dead for millions of years and wanting to go back to the ship, completely ignoring the fact that discovering actual evidence of an alien civilization would probably make them world famous and win them each a few hundred Nobel prizes? How about the Engineer that randomly decided to go on a killing spree after Weyland asked it for no life for no apparent reason? How about when the writers decided it would be a great idea to never explain this to the audience? I hate to break it to you, but a coherent plot and characters that act in a consistent manner are the most important part of any movie.

I like how you expect from a movie that already had a planned sequel when it began to film to answer every single question you or the audience have. They're goal was to find their creators alive, not all suddenly dead. They would have gotten to studying the corpses in due time had events not unfolded as they did. Did you even watch the video?
-
Will the sequel tell me why everyone acts like retards?
-
Did Alien ever tell you what was the facehugger? Or why the ship was crashed? Or filled with eggs? Or who sent the distress call? You expect everything to be explained but sometimes its better to leave things to your imagination which keep you thinking. Minor issues with plot and nitpicked issues are perfectly acceptable if you view the movie as a whole, not small aspects that in the end had to happen and may have been done better. You just fail to see that there is a prequel set up. You were expecting them to return to Earth when they found the Engineer bodies. As if, it took them years to get there. They were going to spend a good amount of time there and would have studied your corpses in due time. Watch that video.

what was the well constructed metaphor, exactly?
-
did you watch the video that hipi was talking about? i mean, it sort of goes in depth into it, documentary style...
-
And a slew of other really good movies.

And Alien, and Blade Runner.

Prometheus was bad.
-
Prometheus seems bad at first glance, but once you start learning about the meanings of things in the movie, you realize that it was some deep shit and was so goof that it seemed bad.
-
Prometheus is great.
-
Nope.
